Local Law 196 (2017) establishes site safety training (“SST”) requirements for workers at most construction sites and requires workers to undergo between 40-55 hours of Site Safety Training. The New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS) has been designated to provide such a training program as a course provider approved by the NYC Department of Buildings (“DOB”) to day laborers.
The Department of Small Business Services is exercising a Negotiated Acquisition Extension in accordance to Section 3-04 (b)(2)(iii) of the Procurement Policy Board Rules.
The negotiated acquisition extension will allow the agency adequate time to release a new solicitation for this program and enable the current Construction Site Safety provider to continue to provide a training program to ensure that these essential safety standards are in place to protect the lives of construction workers and the public consistent with the requirements outlined in the local law.
