The Information Technology Services (ITS) department urgently requests the acquisition of new Macs for the digital and graphics units. The Office of Technology Infrastructure (OTI) has classified this request as HIGH PRIORITY, as the current machines may soon be removed from the network. This action would leave the entire Graphics department unable to perform their work effectively. The existing Macs are outdated and struggle to efficiently run essential graphic design software. This inefficiency significantly hampers productivity and compromises the quality of output. Additionally, these aging devices no longer receive macOS updates, exposing them to security vulnerabilities. Upgrading to newer models will ensure compliance with current security standards. The latest Macs also provide enhanced processing power and graphics capabilities, which will facilitate quicker project turnaround and improve collaboration among team members. ITS propose the Apple Mac Studio M4 Max, featuring a 14-core CPU, 40-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, 64GB of unified memory, and 4TB SSD storage, or a current model with equivalent or superior specifications. ITS emphasizes the urgent need for new Macs for the digital and graphics units due to obsolescence and IT security compliance issues. Upgrading these machines is essential to maintain productivity, enhance work quality, and align with modern security standards.
