Description

DOHMH is contracting for swim instruction and lifeguard training services. The Progressive Swim Instruction Program & Teen Open Swim program aims to:  1. Provide eligible children with opportunities for safe physical activity and recreation. 2. Provide swim instruction & water safety skills to eligible children ages 6-18. 3. Teach all MW Program participating students to become “Splash Ready” in a pool by completion of the program. 4. Provide the opportunity for local teens to have access to free local swimming resource and safe supervised physical activity. 5. Mitigate teen risk behavior by providing supervised, safe, local alternatives to heat exposure as a form of Public health and safety outreach. 6. Grant equitable access to swimming pools to historically marginalized populations as a form of public health equity in predominantly black and brown neighborhoods.

The Lifeguard Training program, aims to enable individuals who pass and obtain lifeguarding certification would gain employment as a lifeguard.
