Description

Reconstruction of Williamsburg Bridge and Miscellaneous Rehabilitation. The Williamsburg Bridge (BIN 2-24003-9) is located in New York City (NYC) connecting the boroughs of Brooklyn (Kings County) and Manhattan (New York County). The Williamsburg Bridge is a steel suspension bridge over the East River.The Bridge and approaches extend approximately 7,300 feet (1.4 miles) from the intersection of Delancey Street and Clinton Street in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan to the intersection of Borinquen Place and Roebling Street in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. In Brooklyn, the bridge provides direct access to Interstate 278 – the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway, while the western end of the bridge provides access to the street network in Lower Manhattan. The Bridge is a component of the National Highway System (NHS) and is identified as New York State Urban, Functional Class 12 – Principal Arterial Expressway (also FHWA Code 2)
