Description

The Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit has used the “Reach Progress” tool for several of its programs, including DemocracyNYC and GetCoveredNYC. Reach is a relational organizing tool that allows staff and volunteers to easily add contacts they meet in the field or from their own networks to PEU’s databases and record the outcome of their outreach. PEU’s nonpartisan voting initiative, DemocracyNYC, has used Reach to help New Yorkers register to vote, make and commit to voting plans, and provide voting education. GetCoveredNYC currently uses Reach to offer New Yorkers multilingual assistance with health insurance enrollment. Currently, PEU plans to use Reach to educate New Yorkers about the City’s new Ranked Choice Voting system ahead of the June 22 primaries. Simultaneously, PEU plans to use a different Reach committee to conduct vaccine outreach to New Yorkers who may be vaccine hesitant. In order to work on these multiple time-sensitive campaigns at the same time while clearly separating data for each project, PEU will need to implement the “Reach Movement” plan. PEU’s will incorporate its current TargetSmart data into the Reach platform, which will require Reach’s “medium state” dataset pricing.
