The U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), recently announced that $3,518,611 is available for New York City under the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program. Funds may be used for several purpose areas, including: law enforcement programs, prosecution and court programs, prevention and education programs, corrections, community corrections and reentry programs, drug treatment and enforcement programs, planning, evaluation, and technology improvement programs, and crime victim and witness programs.
The New York City Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, in consultation with the New York City Office of Management and Budget will submit an application for funding to BJA by the due date, August 19, 2020. The application is available upon request for individuals or organizations who wish to provide comment about the distribution of JAG funds in New York City.
