INTERIM FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS AND MATHEMATICS – Negotiated Acquisition – PIN# 827040 – DOE to enter into a negotiated acquisition to extend an agreement with Princeton Review to provide interim formative assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics for each of grades 3 through 8, and to pilot periodic formative assessments in empowerment schools. This contract was originally awarded through a Request for Proposals in 2003 (1C030), and is set to expire on August 31, 2006. Through this contract, the Princeton Review has provided formative assessments of student abilities three times per year for the past three years, both online and in print form, along with rapid scoring to allow schools to focus on using data to improve instruction. The Office of Accountability (OA) would like to extend their agreement and increase the number of periodic assessments provided in Empowerment Schools to five times per year. The assessments provide a gauge of what students know, and provide the ability to target instruction at the classroom level. Student assessment results from paper and pencil administrations are reported online and available in about 5 days for teachers to use to direct instruction. The results of the online assessments are provided almost instantly. This extension will run from 7/1/06 to 7/31/07 for an estimated amount of $5,422,338.
